New Day School Teachers Attend Gurian Institute "The Gender lens" Training



New Day School Alumni Association New York Chapter, collaborated with Lesleyann Samuel, President of Union Of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA) Inc. along with Katey McPherson, Gurian Institute Executive Director, Nevada(USA), to provide professional development, Gender Lens Training- to 7 primary schools, 3 teachers from New Day participated, they are- Ms. Sharon Gordon, Ms. Cardia Rigg, and Mrs. Joan Harrison Graham. The training focused on the differences in academic teaching styles that are necessary for teaching boys versus girls.


The training was held at Knutsford Court Hotel, November 29, 2017, in Kingston Jamaica, and was well received, not only by the faculty from the 7 primary schools (30 participants including teachers and principals) but also attendees from the National Education Inspectorate, the Ministry of Education, and some members of Kingston College faculty.


The New York Chapter will continue to utilize its resources to harness the true potential of the students of New Day School. We are confident that working together we can help our children realize their fullest potential and become productive members of society thereby ensuring that no one is left behind.
